Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What is the cost of custom clubs?

Custom clubs, properly fitted and made, are tailored to the individual golfer. As such, there are many variables considered in the price. Much like a Rolls Royce costs more than a Ford because of the custom design, fit and finish of the automobile the same sort of consideration should be extended when pricing the custom set of golf clubs. Remember, QUALITY and FIT are preeminent in custom clubs just as they are in fine, tailored clothing.

How do you fit someone to a set of clubs?

There are several measurements and steps taken in personal club fitting. Each full fitting session will take one to one and one half hours to complete, properly. Swingspeed, swing tempo, launch angle, angle of attack, club loft, club lie, shaft flex, shaft bend point, grip composition, size and style and individual club features are just some of the measurements and issues taken into consideration when custom-fitting clubs.

How do custom clubs differ from OEM “off-the-rack” clubs?

While the OEM clubs, for the most part, are excellent pieces of equipment, they are all made “regular” – whatever that means. There is no industry standard for golf clubs. One manufacturer’s R flex shaft may be another’s S flex or even another’s A flex. With custom clubs, you know beforehand exactly what you are getting. As a bonus, Custom Crafted Clubs will work with you after the sale to insure that your new clubs are “tweaked” to your total satisfaction or your money will be cheerfully refunded.

Is the quality the same as with OEM equipment?

In many cases, the quality is not only the same, but even better. The steel foundries that make the vast majority of clubheads for the OEM companies (Titleist, Cobra, Callaway, etc.) are the very foundries that make the components for the custom clubmaker. The suppliers that Custom Crafted Clubs buy from have used these foundries for years and maintain an extremely strict level of quality control. Many of our component parts are inspected numerous times before ever arriving at our shop and are rejected for even very minor variances from acceptable. For example, our clubhead weights are certified to be within stated weights by +/- 2 grams. For the exacting golfer, even those variances can be eliminated by the professional clubmaker. Custom Crafted Clubs fully warrants each club for 30 days from your receiving it, under normal playing conditions and each clubhead is warranted by the manufacturer for 1 year, under normal playing conditions. There is no warranty for mistreatment, attempted changes to the club’s characteristics or normal wear and tear. Grips have no warranty period.
